Our team of experts support pregnant women and their partners and families with compassion and respect through pregnancy, childbirth, bonding, breastfeeding and healing. Our Mother Baby unit is equipped with -32 private and spacious care suites that are designed to support family bonding during postpartum recovery.The Mother-Baby Unit (MBU) offers exceptional care for all healthy newborns born at the University of Chicago Medicine. The unit is staffed by highly-trained, compassionate pediatricians with around-the-clock support from neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners with a goal of providing the best, family-centered newborn care. The MBU has a full complement of certified lactation consultants, nurses, car seat technicians, social workers, and ancillary staff to give newborns and their families a head start on their new journey together. The University of Chicago Medicine is a Baby Friendly-certified institution providing a warm and supportive environment for breastfeeding mothers and babies. Our goal is to partner with and engage families, providing them with the most up-to-date information on newborn health and wellness.Job SummaryA Staff Nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patient centered care that is outcome directed. Patient centered care principles and professional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care provided. The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision.Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN degree or higher preferred.
  • Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program.
  • Current Illinois RN license
  • Active BLS certification -Preferred Qualifications
