DescriptionChicago Transit Authority is the second largest
transit system in the country! Our college internship program
offers summer and year-long internships that provide students with
valuable work experience, professional development, and mentorship.
Students receive exposure to the discipline of the workplace and
are guided by subject matter experts who assist them in acquiring
the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to perform in today's
technically demanding careers. Interns at CTA work in a range of
departments across the authority. Internships are part-time (15
hours a week) during the school year and full-time (40 hours a
week) during the summer.In this role within the Office of General
Counsel's Law Department unit, interns will:
- Practice law under the supervision of CTA attorneys (after
securing a 711 license).
- Explore and participate in a variety of practice areas of the
Law Department's work, such as: taking depositions, representing
the CTA in arbitrations, assisting with trials, preparing and
presenting motions in court, researching and drafting legal
memoranda, and reviewing contracts.
- Capability to choose projects and specialize in a specific area
of tort law.
- Gain an understanding of the diverse and complex legal issues
addressed by the second largest transit agency in the country.
- Perform legal research.
- Prepare legal documents.
- Represent the CTA in legal proceedings.Primary work location

Illinois 60661)QualificationsEducational Experience/Requirements:
- Education level: Must be in second year of law school at time
of application (CTA only hires rising 3Ls for the Legal Intern
Program)
- Academic standing: Good academic standing and a minimum grade
point average of 2.75 on a scale of 4.0Physical Requirements:
- The demands associated with the normal office environment
- Must be able to comply with office policy to work on-site twice
per week
- Light physical activity, including walking outdoors and
climbing stairsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Good project management skills.
- Proficiency in legal research.Additional DetailsFinal salary
will be determined in part by the qualifications of the selected
candidate and may be higher or lower than target.Applicants, if
